On 2nd of September 2025, after nearly three years of intense collaboration, research, software development, testing, and stakeholder engagement, the EU-funded HorizonEurope CHEKdbp (Change Toolkit for Digital Building Permits) project had its final event.
Online and free, hosted on Teams platform, CHEK managed to gather 29 speakers and more than 180 attendees from across Europe. The agenda covered trending topics, from a welcome and vision for digitalization, through insights into digital maturity models, the CHEK platform and rule-checking workflows, and GeoBIM interoperability solutions. The day concluded with a forward-looking panel on standardization and sister projects, ensuring that CHEK’s outcomes connect with global efforts and will continue to evolve. The CHEK Final Event showed how strong the momentum is for the digital transformation of building permits.
CHEK project has delivered a comprehensive toolkit of interoperable digital solutions that support the automation and digitalization of the building permitting process, aligning with open standards such as IFC, CityGML, IDS, and more. Through real-life pilot demonstrations in cities such as Lisbon, Gaia, Ascoli Piceno, and Prague, the tools were tested and validated in workflows for new construction and renovation scenarios, with real designers and municipalities involved.
On behalf of the CHEK consortium, a heartfelt thank you to all speakers, attendees, and partners who contributed to this milestone moment.
The journey does not end here. CHEK’s legacy will continue through collaboration with cities, standards organizations, and new research initiatives.
